T11 Coders!

This week for maths we have been learning basic coding. We have done 3 activities- Kidsbots, ipad apps and Beebots. It has been so much fun learning this new skill. At times it has been quite tricky but we have kept trying and have got a lot better as a result. It has also helped us learn left and right.

The first photos are us doing kidsbots. In this activity each child had a different role in their group of 3. We had a director, a tester and a bot. The director wrote the code, the tester tested it out and the bot moved according to the code (on big life sized fabric grids). After we had done it a few times we had to write code (directions) for a mother dinosaur to rescue her baby.

Next we used 3 different coding apps on the ipads. These apps were Beebots, Scratch Jr and Box Island. It was fun being able to apply the things we had learnt on the first day to work these out.

Our 3rd activity was using the Beebots. This was so much fun. We can't wait to be able to do this again!

The Beebots have buttons on the top that we use to programme where we want it to move.

We worked in groups of 3 to make out beebots travel to different points on the activity mats.
