Our Special Place

This week the children have been writing about themselves. We have read a variety of books from the library about how we are special and how we are all different.

On Thursday the children wrote about their 'special place' which we have linked in wth our inquiry of Turangawaewae - our standing place/ belonging.

The teachers had warm fuzzies reading through their stories.

Matific

In Whio the children use Matific as a part of our maths program. This week the children have been practising logging in with their password and exploring the activities.

Your child will have brought home their log in details - we recommend using this app at home.

Their username is their Tgroup number and name and their password is their name.

Working with a buddy

This week we have been establishing our 'maths norms' prior to starting our problem based maths.

The children worked with a buddy on number knowledge sheet and then we discussed how we can work well with a buddy. The children came up with some great ideas which we will refer to during our maths sessions.

Huritini Assembly

This morning the children from Huritini hosted assembly for the whole school. We had amazing presenters who all spoke in a clear, loud voice. Although it was a little scary being up the from they all loved the experience.

Special visitors to Whio

Today Rohan brought his 2 new bunnies to school. The children loved having these special visitors in our studio. We had to make sure that we kept noise levels down and we used very gentle hands when they came close to us. Thanks for bringing them along Rohan!











Writing our pepeha

Today for writing in Whio we did our pepeha. The children wrote about their name, river,  school and their teacher. The children did an awesome job!
