BOOK CHARACTER DAY

What a great way to end 'Book Week', the children looked so good in their costumes, such a great effort!

We have shared lots of stories today, watched short clips from Dr Seuss and the children have talked in small groups about their character, what book they are from and the traits their character has.

Book Week Visitor

On Thursday Mr MaCallum brought over his friend Chris from Scholastic.

Chris had all the inside knowledge about new books that are going to be released early next year. The children were very excited to hear about a new Dog Man book coming out and the teachers were excited to hear about Nadia Lim's picture she is publishing.

Chris encouraged the children to write their own books and to send them into Scholastic, he then read us a few new books that will be released over the next few months, a book about dogs, one about space and one about making friends - Whio thought it was pretty cool!

The children showed such great manners and active listening skills. We were very proud of them.

Book Week Competition

This week is BOOK WEEK! Mr MaCallum set us the challenge of creating a 'cool reading spot' in our learning centre.

The children could work individually, in pairs or in a small group. We saw some awesome team work going on as they worked together.

Mr MaCallum will be coming around at first lunch to judge.

T10's swimming poems

This week T10 had a go at writing cinquain poems about swimming with Apple, our student teacher. We learnt that a cinquain poem has special rules to follow. We had to think of describing words and action ('ing') words.
