Whanau morning

Whio children really enjoyed working with other children from through out the school this morning when we had our Whanau morning.  They completed many different activities all designed and run by the senior students from Otumatua studio.  All the activities were themed around a Te Reo Maori topic.

The children were all busy doing word finds, singing 'Heads, shoulders, knees and toes', counting (and making numbers with play dough), learning greetings and how to respond with how they are feeling, all using Te Reo Maori. There was also time at the end for most groups to have an outside game together.

A big thank you to the students and teachers from Otumatua for the work put into preparing Whanau morning.

Messy Monday writing

The children have done some awesome writing over the last 2 days about our Messy Monday adventures. We have typed their stories up and the children have completed some super illustrations.  The pages are now up on the studio wall for everyone to read!

Final week of PMP

This is our final week of PMP. We would like to say a huge thank you to all the wonderful parents who have given up their time this term to come and parent help. You are all amazing and we couldn't run the PMP programme without you!

Marvellous Messy Monday!

We had a wonderful day celebrating the children filling their kindness jar. There were lots of messy, fun activities going on in the studio and outside. Here are a few photo highlights!

Kei te pehea koe? - How are you?

During Maori Language Week we have had a big focus on feelings - each morning as the children sign in they have to put their photo under their feeling which we have in English and Te Reo.

We read a fabulous book: which modelled how to ask how do you feel and how to respond.

The children then wrote out the question - Kei te pehea koe? and their response (how they were feeling at the time)

Whio Korowai

We feel very lucky to work in a collaborative space and work with all of our peers in Whio.

As a part of Maori language week the children each created a feather to add to our Whio Korowai.

The collaborative artwork is hung in our wet room to remind us that 'My strength is not that of an individual but that of a collective - Ehara taku toa i te toa taki tahi, engari ko te toa taki tini.'
