This week we have linked our PE lesson with digi tech. The main point of the game was to listen carefully and follow the instructions their buddy gave them.
One child closed their eyes and listened to their buddy give basic instructions so that they didn't stand on the bean bags. They had to use words like forwards, left and right.
They had to really trust their buddy and listen carefully - we will continue to use these skills during our digi tech lessons this week.
Welcome to Whio 2020. We are a Year 1 and 2 studio made up of three T groups. On this blog we will share our learning each week. We would love for you to be a part of our learning journey.

Matariki circle art
As part of our learning about Matariki this week we have been creating Matariki circle art. The children had to think carefully about what to put in each segment of their circle. Their ideas related to what the 7 Matariki stars symbolise. The children were very proud of their completed work and we think they look awesome!

Jelly on a plate!
This week Miss Craddock's phonic's group shared the poem 'Jelly On A Plate'. As a follow up activity they made wibbly, wobbly pudding (they couldn't make jelly due to food restrictions for some of the children in the group). The children loved making the Chia pudding and they got to eat it on Friday!

Assembly
It was exciting to host the assembly today with Ōtawhito - our first school assembly for over a term! Our presenters did a fantastic job and well done to our certificate children too.
Ahuriri and Huritini's kapa haka performance showing our learning about the Matariki stars was a real hit; the children sang beautifully!

Special visit from Mrs Dunsey
Today we were very lucky to have a special visit from Mrs Dunsey and baby Zayde. We were so excited to see them both. The children asked lots of great questions about Zayde and found out all about him. We loved having them visit and hope that they can come back again soon!

Matariki Collaborative Artwork
For the next couple of weeks Whio will be learning about and celebrating Matariki. One of the activities we did this week was a collaborative piece of art work. Each child had to colour in an A4 piece of paper, they had to work collaboratively with the person sitting next to them and in front and behind them.
We think it turned out pretty well!
